enable Automatic OS Updates
When Automatic Updates are enabled, Windows will periodically check for updates and then download and install them automatically. This option is recommended and requires little to no action from the user. Occasionally, your computer may have to be shut down and restarted to complete an update installation. Enable Windows XP automatic updates: - Navigate to your Control Panel
- Select Security Center
- Under “Manage Security Settings for:” double click Automatic Updates
- Choose the desired setting for your automatic updates
While not mandatory for Windows Updates, the “Automatic” setting is highly recommended.
