manually check for OS updates Automatic Updates retrieves only high priority or critical updates to keep your computer safe and secure. To view, download, and install other Windows updates such as new software content or driver updates, you will need to visit the Windows Update site.
To check Microsoft for Windows Updates: - Launch Internet Explorer
- Go to Tools and select Windows Update
- Choose Express for only critical and essential updates or Custom for all available updates to your computer hardware and software
- Recommended updates will be selected already. Choose next to start the download and installation.
- Choose finish to finalize the update process.
