If your computer does not ask you for a password to log-in when you turn it on, your computer is set to an “Automatic Log-in” method. This method, while convenient, is highly frowned upon, as anyone will merely need to turn your computer on, to gain access to your data. To disable automatic log-in with Windows XP: - Navigate to your Control Panel.
- Double click “User Accounts”.
- Select “Change the way Users Log on or off”.
- Ensure that “Use the Welcome Screen” and “Use Fast User Switching” are both unchecked then click “Apply Options”.
