enable spam & virus filtering (on OAK accounts)
Ohio University provides a junk mail filtering service to all University email accounts, and is able to distinguish most unwanted emails from legitimate email. Even when using junk mail filtering, be sure to scan your junk mail for any misplaced or mismarked emails before emptying your junk mail folder. To configure OAK Junkmail filtering: - Go to http://technology.ohio.edu/myaccount/
- Click on “Configure Spam Filtering”
- Login, using your OAK ID and password
- Ensure the settings are as follows:
- E-mail marked as spam should be: “moved to the 'Spam' folder”
- E-mail found to have been infected with a virus should be: “moved to the 'Virus' folder”
- Click the “Enable Filtering” button
Note: Although it is possible to mark spam and infected emails to “delete immediately” it is not a recommended practice, as occasionally some legitimate emails might be misdirected.
