disable file and print sharing
As a general rule, you should always disable “File and Print Sharing” on your local machine unless you have a specific need to allow access to your files and printers from another computer. Even when enabled, “File and Print sharing” is easily compromised, and great care should be taken as to what files are shared to others. To disable Windows File and Print Sharing: - Navigate to your Control Panel
- Choose “Network and Internet Connections”
- Click the “Network Connections” icon
- Right click the proper connection (i.e. “Local Area Connection”) choose Properties
- On the General tab uncheck “File and Print Sharing for Microsoft Networks”
- Click OK
