A cookie is a small amount of information created by some websites you vist and stored on your computer. When you visit these websites again, the cookie allows the site to remember your settings, your details if you have entered them before, and many other useful things. Generally, cookies are not harmful. However, it's possible to accumulate quite a number of them, which can affect your computer's performance, and some can make it much easier for spyware to learn more about you. Consider clearing cookies periodically. To clear cookies in IE: - Launch an internet explorer browser window
- Click on Tools, then Internet Options
- On the General tab, click Delete Cookies
To clear cookies in Firefox: - Launch a Firefox browser window
- Click on Tools then Options
- Click Privacy icon, then select the Cookies Tab
- Click the “Clear Cookies Now” button
To clear cookies in Safari: - Launch a Safari browser window
- Click Safari, then preferences
- Click on the Security tab and click the “Show Cookies” button
- In the Cookies dialog window, click “Remove All”
