The Media Sales Institute (MSI) is an intensive 12-day workshop designed to prepare recent college graduates for a career in media sales. The MSI program, offered through the Scripps College of Communication and sponsored by the National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation (NABEF), is free to selected participants ($3,000 value). The program serves as an excellent pipeline to funnel top graduates interested in a career in media sales.
Taught by leaders and sales executives from major broadcast and media companies, the MSI program culminates with sales presentations observed by media sales recruiters, who will subsequently interview MSI participants for professional sales positions. Media companies hire more than 75 percent of participants within one month of participation in the program!
To apply for MSI, students must have graduated from a four-year university before the beginning of the program (May 12, 2013). Prospective participants must complete an application and submit a 500-word essay describing why attending MSI will be valuable to your future career. In the essay please address: (1) extra-curricular/volunteer/student activities; (2) the importance of media sales to you; and (3) relevant internships and/or work experiences (if applicable). Applicants are also required to submit a one-page resume, and two letters of recommendation (non-family members)—one from a professor and one from another source.
