Schoonovers attend Cleveland alumni event; sign image of new building
From staff reports
ATHENS, Ohio (July 25, 2013) - Steven L. Schoonover and wife, Renee Schoonover, both attended OHIO’s largest alumni event ever at the Cleveland Marriott Downtown at Key Center on Thursday, July 18, as part of the annual summer meeting of The Ohio University Foundation Board of Trustees.
Schoonover, a trustee of the board, made a $7.5 million lead gift for a new integrated communication facility for the Scripps College of Communication in 2008. The building, slated for first-phase move-in this fall, will unite the Dean’s Office, all five schools and WOUB Public Media under one roof.
The event, themed “A Night in Athens… in Cleveland,” was hosted by the Ohio University Alumni Association and featured 8x8-foot images of 11 of Ohio University’s buildings on which guests were invited to leave an autograph and message.
The Schoonovers took the opportunity to sign a rendition of the new communication facility. A proposal to name the building the Steven L. Schoonover Center for Communication will be presented to the Board later this year.
