What can you do with a communication degree? In short, the sky is the limit. Our alumni are communication leaders in ever discipline of the industry. They are not only asking the tough questions in this ever-changing field, but are finding solutions that help the world move forward. Alumnus Larry Patrick commits funding for Berman Chair, graduate scholars

May 13, 2013 W. Lawrence “Larry” Patrick and his wife, Susan, hosted an alumni reception at the Woodrow Wilson House in Washington, D.C., on May 8 to announce their gifts to Ohio University’s The Promise Lives Campaign. Larry Patrick earned his doctorate from the Scripps College of Communication’s School of Media Arts and Studies in 1975.

Journalism students, faculty, alumni gather for Scripps Hall farewell event

Apr 30, 2013 More than a hundred students, faculty and alumni of the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism gathered Friday, April 26, for a “Farewell to Scripps Hall.” The school’s faculty and staff will move to the new Schoonover Center for Communication in August, and E.W. Scripps Hall, the school’s home for 27 years, will remain in the College but will no longer be exclusively used by the School of Journalism.

OHIO film screenings feature Nancy Cartwright on Skype

Apr 22, 2013 "Nancy Cartwright: The Voice of Success," a documentary directed by Andie Walla, assistant video producer at Ohio University Communications and Marketing (UCM), will be screened twice on Tuesday, April 23, at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the Baker University Center Theatre. After each screening there will be a question and answer session with Cartwright via Skype.

Ohio University chapters of RTDNA, PRSSA host professional conferences

Apr 16, 2013 Two student organizations in the Scripps College of Communication hosted professional conferences at Ohio University this semester. Ohio University’s chapter of the Radio Television Digital News Association (OU RTNDA) and the Hugh M. Culbertson chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) organized conferences with esteemed speakers from the journalism, public relations and communications industry.

Schuneman honored with induction into Ohio Communication Hall of Fame

Feb 26, 2013 R. Smith “Smitty” Schuneman, an accomplished Ohio University alumnus and the benefactor of a generous $495,000 gift to the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism in 2009, was inducted into the Ohio Communication Hall of Fame after the keynote lecture of the fifth annual Schuneman Symposium on Photojournalism and New Media on Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, on the Ohio University campus.
