Scripps and WOUB host ‘A Beautiful Remedy’ screening debut

Jan 26, 2015 The first public screening of the documentary “A Beautiful Remedy” took place Friday, Jan. 23, on the main campus of Ohio University in Athens in Baker Center Theatre with more than 200 audience members. The film, which profiles the Arts and Medicine Program at the University of Texas MD Anderson Children’s Cancer Hospital, was produced and directed by Dr. Lynn M. Harter, a professor and associate director for undergraduate studies in the School of Communication Studies and WOUB's Chief Editor/Videographer Evan Shaw.

GRID Lab to host Global Game Jam site

Jan 22, 2015 The Game Research and Immersive Design (GRID) Lab will be hosting a participation site for the Global Game Jam January 23rd-25th, 2015. There are currently close to 500 sites worldwide participating. This is an open event for all Ohio University students and alumni. Space is limited.

Sexual assault on college campuses top issue for Ohio University’s Scripps Innovation Challenge

Dec 11, 2014 With sexual assault on college campuses dominating the news in recent weeks, nearly half of this year’s Scripps Innovation Challenge teams at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio will be creating solutions to address this issue. More than 25 teams and 90 students from disciplines across the university will compete in this year’s Scripps Innovation Challenge, a media startup competition that offers a $25,000 purse for innovative solutions to media challenges.

VisCom’s Sarah Erickson named first 73 West State Scholar

Dec 11, 2014 Ohio University School of Visual Communication (VisCom) student Sarah Erickson has been named the 73 West State Scholar. The award is a two-year renewable scholarship that was established by alumnus William C. Brand, BSC ’87, to honor the friends he made during his time as an Ohio University student.
