ATHENS, Ohio (May 7, 2014)—Staff members from the Scripps College of Communication and WOUB Public Media at Ohio University took part in Mister Rogers Sweater Day on Thursday, May 1. The event commemorated the 45th anniversary of Fred Rogers’ testimony to a U.S. Senate subcommittee on public broadcasting funding in 1969.

Public broadcasting stations throughout the nation took part in honoring the late Rogers on Sweater Day by wearing red sweaters and cardigans of all colors.

“We had a great turnout here at the studio for a group photo,” said WOUB Director of Program Services/Chief of Staff Joan Butcher, who helped organize the event locally. “Thanks to all who participated in person and in spirit on Sweater Day to honor Mister Rogers. Thursday was a beautiful day in the neighborhood.”

WOUB’s Newswatch produced a segment on the event. WOUB’s group photo is also featured on the Protect My Public Media website.
