Journalism student rings in New Year with ABC’s ‘Rockin’ Eve’
By Kerry Tuttle
ATHENS, Ohio (Jan. 7, 2013)—Regina Donizetti, a junior journalism major at Ohio University, rang in the New Year in Times Square assisting in the production of “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest.”
Donizetti said her previous experiences in New York as an intern with CNN and “Anderson Cooper 360°” as well as her work as a producer, anchor and reporter with WOUB prepared her to land the job working alongside the teams from ABC and Dick Clark Productions.
“I have been passionate about television and journalism for a very long time. In particular, I have always had especially strong interests in live broadcasts and special events,” she said. “This experience allowed me to see what goes into a nationally broadcasted special, one that focuses more on the entertainment side of television.”
Donizetti assisted in the production itself as well as preparations prior to the event. Her passion lies in television, production, live events and entertainment, and this job encompassed all of those areas, allowing her to learn, grow and build on skills she already had.
“I grew up watching this production every New Year’s Eve,” said Donizetti. “The professionals behind this production are some of the most talented in the business. I feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to learn from them and to be a part of such an extraordinary production.”
Donizetti will resume her classes at Ohio University Monday, Jan. 13 when the spring semester begins. To see some of her work, visit http://reginadonizetti.com/.
