About the Complex

The Read-Johnson Scholars' Complex was brought into being to create a community of scholars capable of energizing and enlivening the intellectual life of the entire campus. While the notion of a residence hall devoted to high-minded pursuits might conjure images of unrelenting monotony, Read and Johnson are not intended to be an environment where students attend solely to their books. On the contrary, the life of the mind encompasses more than academics, and with over 200 creative, smart, witty, open-minded, fearless women and men as residents, dullness is not even a remote possibility.
