Resident Assistant Application
Sometimes the Resident Assistant's job is seen as being a "24-hour-a-day" job. This isn't really very accurate. In fact, the R.A. position offers a deal of flexibility in terms of time. Normally, an R.A. will work about 15 hours a week. Sometimes this will be more, sometimes less, it all just depends on what happens to be going on in the complex and on the floor section that week. In any given week, an R.A. will have 7.5 hours of scheduled work time which typically breaks down as. . .
- 2 hours Staff meeting
1/2 hour Supervision meeting - 3 hours Duty
- 2 hours Floor Section activity
The rest of an R.A.'s job is unscheduled time devoted to being with the Floor Section. This time is quite flexible, so an R.A. can usually set "work" hours when it is more convenient. However, this same flexibility can sometimes lead to an R.A. being "on the job" unexpectedly. Resident Assistants receive. . .
- A staff room to yourself at 30% of the staff room rate. Your share equals $477.00 per quarter or $1,431.00 per year.
- A salary of $713.00 per quarter or $2,140.00 per year. Paychecks are distributed bi-weekly and average $118.00. After three quarters, your salary is increased $1,100 for your second year.
Salary plus savings on a room equals at least $4,327.00 the first year (approximately $5,427.00 the second year), not to mention the many leadership opportunities and skills you will acquire!
