Resident Assistant
A Resident Assistant (RA) is a paraprofessional staff member who serves the 30-40 residents of a floor section in a variety of ways -- from helping students to coordinating educational programs, from fostering community to role-modeling to administering university policies. This is a people-oriented position that requires emotional maturity, self-awareness, and interpersonal communication skills. Successful candidates musst demonstratve the ability to assist students in the areas of:

Salary & Benefits
RAs receive 70% of their room cost
Salary for a 1st year RA is $2,140 per year

Security Aide
A Security Aide (SA) is also a paraprofessional staff member who serves students -- from helping residents to coordinating educational programs, from role-modeling to confronting violations of University policy and state law. SAs are not required to live on-campus, but work Thursday through Saturday nights. Security Aides' hourly wage begins at $7.00 and they receive $25 Bobcat cash per quarter.

What are the qualifications?
Because a RAs or SAs first responsibility is to be a student, candidates must have earned at least 15 on-campus credit hours, an accumulative GPA of 2.25, and a term GPA of 2.00. The grade check will be based on the student's last full-time (12 hour) quarter. Transfer students must provide documentation that supports these academic qualifications. Candidates must also satisfactorily pass a check of judicial records.
