Digital media startups showcase new technologies during Aug. 20 open house

A Google Analytics for advertising agencies. Communication links for unmanned air vehicles. Digital "choose-your-own-adventure" stories for mobile phones.

These are just a few of the technologies in development from the six companies in Ohio University's Innovation Engine Accelerator program, a 10-week boot camp for digital media startups.

The six Ohio companies will offer presentations of their technologies to the general public at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 20 at the Innovation Center in Athens.

Entrepreneurs will describe and demonstrate their products and discuss how the Innovation Engine Accelerator program helped advance their businesses.

Companies received funding, extensive business coaching and mentoring and access to office space and equipment at the Ohio University small business incubator this summer.

Four of the companies are based in Athens, Ohio. One company comes from Middleport, Ohio, and the sixth hails from Columbus. Several companies feature Ohio University students and alumni.

Innovation Center staff will discuss the goals and outcomes of the program, which taps into a growing digital media field in Ohio.

Refreshments will be served.
