Winter Quarter 2009-10 Calendar

 
Regional campus students should refer also to the section of the Schedule of Classes pertaining to their campus: Chillicothe, Eastern, Lancaster, Southern, Zanesville.

Deadlines are 5:00 p.m. EST on the date indicated (unless otherwise noted). However, online transactions may be processed beyond 5:00 p.m. EST if the online application is available.

By registering for classes, a student incurs a legal obligation to pay tuition and fees. This debt may be canceled only if the student officially cancels his/her registration BEFORE Monday, January 4, 2010.


MONDAY, OCTOBER 19
Academic advising begins for winter quarter registration for continuing students (contact advisor/college/department/school/regional campus student services office as appropriate)

DARS reports available for students enrolled fall quarter

Note: A DARS (Degree Audit Reporting System) report is issued to students each quarter prior to priority registration. See General Information: Registration Material Locations for method of distribution and location.


MONDAY, OCTOBER 26

Winter quarter priority registration begins


MONDAY, OCTOBER 26 - MONDAY, NOVEMBER 16

Web Registration available for winter quarter priority registration (see Registration Schedule). This is priority registration based on class rank. See your DARS report for your starting time and Registration Access Code (RAC).

Note: Each student's RAC (Registration Access Code) is printed on his/her DARS report for priority registration. Continuing students can obtain registration material at the locations listed under General Information: Registration Material Locations or at their regional campus student services offices. Re-enrolling students are mailed registration information upon receipt of their request to re-enroll.

Fee Information: Student eBills will be generated Friday, Decemer 4, 2009. Fees must be paid on or before Monday, December 21, 2009. See General Information: Fee Assessment Payment/Deadline-Bills for information on making payments.

Upon completion of registration, student class schedules are available by accessing the Office of the University Registrar Web site, www.ohio.edu/registrar, and selecting MySchedule under Online Services. See General Information: Schedules, Student for more information on requesting your schedule via the Web.


MONDAY, NOVEMBER 16
In-person registration available (for those not wanting to use Web Registration to register)

Fee Information:

Last day for returning students to withdraw from housing to avoid forfeiture of winter quarter deposit of $200


FRIDAY, DECEMBER 4
Student orientation for all new first-year and transfer undergraduate students

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 19
Winter quarter class schedules sent to University e-mail accounts of registered students

MONDAY, DECEMBER 21
Last day to pay fees for winter quarter to avoid late payment charge

Reminder:
Fees must be paid by the due date. Students who have not paid their fees will not be canceled but will be charged a $100 late payment charge. If you do not plan to attend winter quarter, you must cancel all of your classes by accessing the Office of the University Registrar Web site, www.ohio.edu/registrar, and selecting Register for Classes under Online Services or by calling the Office of the University Registrar, (740) 593-4495, BEFORE Monday, January 4, 2010, the first day of classes.

Fee Information:
Students incurring charges will receive an eBill with payment due upon receipt.

Note: Cancellation of registration is defined as dropping all classes before the first day of classes (use Web Registration).

Residence halls open at 9:00 a.m.

Housing office open 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. (limited services will be available)

Last day to decrease or cancel meal plan

Student orientation for all first-year and transfer undergraduate students not attending December orientation


MONDAY, JANUARY 4
Winter quarter opening date

Winter quarter classes begin - Athens and regional campuses

First meal served on board plan (breakfast)

Winter quarter monthly payment plan installment #1 due


SATURDAY, JANUARY 9
Last day to check out of residence hall to receive 75% housing refund

Winter quarter class schedules sent to University e-mail accounts for registered students


MONDAY, JANUARY 11
Last day to add a winter quarter class without instructor's approval


SATURDAY, JANUARY 16
Last day to check out of residence hall to receive 50% housing refund

MONDAY, JANUARY 18
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day holiday (University offices officially closed; classes not in session)



TUESDAY, JANUARY 19
Last day to register for winter quarter

Note: Students who are in attendance by this date but fail to complete any registration procedures must pay a penalty for retroactive registration correction according to the following schedule:

January 20 - 26 $ 40
January 27 - February 2 $ 60
February 3 - 9 $ 80
February 10 - 16 $100

Last day to add a winter quarter class (instructor's permission required)

Last day to remove a winter quarter class from student's academic record with possible fee adjustment (use Web Registration); winter quarter classes dropped January 20 - February 8 will remain on student's academic record with WP/WF grade with no fee adjustment

Last day to receive partial fee adjustment (80%) of registration fees for complete withdrawal from the University for winter quarter (all winter quarter courses removed from the student's academic record)

Last day to apply for pass/fail grading option for winter quarter class (apply at your college student services office or regional campus student services office)

Last day to change a grading option for winter quarter class (credit to audit, audit to credit, pass/fail to regular grade option or regular grade option to pass/fail)

Last day to change college/major for winter quarter (contact your college student services office or regional campus student services office)

Winter quarter class schedules sent to University e-mail accounts of registered students


WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 20
Winter quarter classes dropped will not remove fees for hours dropped; corrected registration that results in increased hours could increase tuition

Winter quarter classes dropped from this date through February 8 (last day to drop a class) will remain on student's academic record with WP/WF grade with no fee adjustment

FRIDAY, JANUARY 22 - SUNDAY, JANUARY 24

Last day to apply for graduation for winter quarter

Note: Official graduation (degree conferral date) is March 20. Commencement is held at the conclusion of spring quarter.

Winter quarter probationary grades mailed (students' permanent addresses) and e-mailed (students' University e-mail accounts)
