Policies 

Walter Fieldhouse Policies


•Patrons must swipe in with an OU ID to enter the facility.

•All Team/Individual training activities are to be scheduled through the Field House Director for approval. At least a 72 hour notice is needed for scheduling purposes unless inclement weather arises and an outdoor practice needs to be moved inside.  

•Alcohol, non-prescription drugs, and tobacco products are NOT permitted. Alcohol is only permitted when served via catering services and a permit is acquired.

•Food and drinks are permitted in the lobby area only. No food or drinks other than water are permitted in the facility. (including coffee, Gatorade, Powerade, & any sports drinks) Report any spills to the facility staff immediately.

•Any rentals that wish to bring in food must obtain a permit from Environmental Health and Safety and must use proper turf/track protection.

•Absolutely no chewing tobacco, gum, or sunflower seeds.

•Empty ice bags before throwing away.

•Picture taking and/or videotaping is only permissible after obtaining written permission from the Director of the Walter Field House. (ICA staff are permitted to film their own practices) 

•Facility staff members are the only people permitted to operate the netting, lighting, and fan systems.

•Any modification of equipment or netting beyond its designed purpose is prohibited.

•Groups with their own facility storage areas are responsible for their own equipment. They are responsible for putting equipment away and making sure it is locked after use. 

•Injuries, accidents, or equipment failures must be reported immediately to the facility staff. Incident reports must be completed in entirety. 

•Campus Recreation is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

•Please consult a physician prior to engaging in physical activity.  Campus Recreation is not responsible for accidents or injuries that occur due to the nature of the activity.

•Molded cleats and athletic shoes only on the turf. No metal or non-turf cleats.

•No spikes permitted on the track. 

•No sharp objects including tent stakes, corner flags, or any other objects that can penetrate the surface of the field are permitted on the turf.

•Conduct becoming of an Ohio University student and Walter Fieldhouse is expected and required.

•Any individual and/or organization not fully complying with the Walter Fieldhouse policies and guidelines or cooperating with the Walter Fieldhouse staff may be asked to vacate the premises and may have their privileges revoked.

•No bicycles, rollerblades, mopeds, or pets (not including service animals) are permitted inside the Walter Fieldhouse. There are bike racks close by for your convenience. 

•It is required that a parent/guardian remain in the same area with their children while in the Walter Fieldhouse.

•No kicking, hitting, or bouncing balls against the wall.

•Nets must be down when balls are being thrown or kicked. No throwing or kicking balls outside of nets.

•Patrons are not permitted to use OU Athletic equipment including pole vault mats, hurdles, football equipment, sand pit, etc. 

•During inclement weather, participants must clean or bring a change of shoes before entering the facility.

•No punting, kicking, hitting balls into the ceiling.

•Always carry, wheel, or cart nets or goals over the track. Do no drag, as it will tear into the track.

•If any vomit or bodily fluids get on any surface of the facility, please alert the Field House staff immediately.

•No minor under the age of 18 is allowed to enter the facility. Individuals under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times

•Coaches MUST be present when their athletes are using the facility. As such, the coaches are responsible for ALL and ANY actions of their athletes.

•Vaulting/High jump and sand pits are not available for general use unless prior approval has been arranged through the Director.

• During Open Track time- Lanes 1-2 (inner) for walkers, and lanes 3-4 (outer) for joggers/runners. Direction will alternate daily.

•Bicycles are not to be locked to any light poles, bollards, trees, emergency phones, hydrants, etc. There is a bike rack located outside the North West corner of the facility.

•Garage doors will remain closed unless needed for unloading purposes.

•Golf pads must be used when hitting balls off of the turf or track. Golfers should not be hitting directly off of the turf/track.

•All vehicles/lifts that enter the facility must obtain prior approval and must use proper turf and track protection. No gas powered vehicles are permitted inside the facility, electric only.
