The "learn to skate" programs take place on Saturday and Wednesday mornings in the fall and spring semesters. Participants must be age 3 or older and will be placed at a beginner, intermediate, or advanced level. Two sessions focus on ice skating and getting children comfortable on the ice. Recreational HockeyTake up a position on the ice with recreational hockey. This program allows you to participate in games suited to meet your desired competition level, either contact or non-contact. Call 597-1440 for more information.
Ohio University hosts various special events from September to March at Bird Arena. From hockey games and figure skating classes, to the Midnight Meltdown, there's always something happening on the ice.
Academic Skating Classes
Learn the skills, techniques and strategies of sports on ice. Choose from broomball, hockey, ice skating and figure skating. Beginning and advanced classes are available fall and winter quarters.
Attention all non-skaters, we have the sport for you. Broomball is a growing intramural sport at Ohio University. Played on the ice, participants engage in hockey-like competition with a broom and ball while wearing tennis shoes. Men, Women and Coed teams are available. For more information, call 593-9946.
