Reasons - why a new approach?

 

Budgets are not an end in themselves, but a means to allow units to meet the university's mission and the achievement of its academic plan. An effective budget system should reward those who advance the mission of the university and provide clear direction to those whose performance needs improvement.  

Fiscally Ohio University has found itself at a point where a decreasing share of the budget is provided by state subsidy, which in turn has created a cycle of annual budget reductions. In this environment, we need to implement a budget model that will allow us to make the best use of our resources.
