What are your future goals?
After graduating I plan to move to Nashville and work at a major record label. This has always been my dream career so I have been determined to get there. Ohio University has given me all the more motivation to make this a reality. My advisor has worked with me on how to make connections and keep in touch with those who will be most beneficial to my career. I am so thankful this skill has been instilled in me.
What were you anxious about before coming to college?
I was most anxious about finding the right social group for myself. I had to be open to new ideas and explore settings I otherwise might not have. By taking myself out of my comfort zone I met new and exciting people who quickly became the best friends I have ever met.
What’s your advice for finding a good internship?
My advice on finding your most compatible internship would be RESEARCH! In my case, I researched major music labels in Nashville and internship opportunities. This then led me to specific internship links for music labels. Also, have people in different occupations look over your resume. Each person could have new advice on what to include and notice things you may have overlooked.
How is residence life at OHIO?
My experience in the residence hall was great; I miss it so much. You become so close with those who live close to you and can discover the campus together.
What do you want people to know about OHIO?
One thing that I love about Ohio University, which I think all incoming students should know, is the passion that current students and alumni hold for their BOBCATS! You will not find a bigger cheering squad when it comes to sports and other events that come out of OHIO. The alumni are so great when they come back and visit, no matter what age. Homecoming is such an amazing weekend to experience the passion and devotion of all who have had the OHIO experience.
What’s the best advice you’ve received?
The best advice I have ever received was just to step out of my comfort zone. Even if it were something as simple as a club or event you normally would not attend, try it. Everyone at OHIO just wants to meet new and exciting people and this is a sure way to do it. Go in with an open mind and you will have the best experiences. I have taken this advice with me to many places and have had the most unbelievable opportunities thrown my way, all because I tried something new or different.
