Ohio University seeks nominations and applications for the position of President. Established in 1804, the University is the oldest public institution of higher learning in the state of Ohio and the first in the Northwest Territory. Located in the scenic Appalachian foothills, its classic residential campus in Athens, Ohio, is one of the most attractive in the nation.
A comprehensive, national university, Ohio University offers both distinctive, high quality undergraduate education and excellent, focused graduate education. The University’s educational mission is strengthened by superiority in research and creative activity and a fundamental service commitment to its region. The educational mission is realized in a residential setting on the 1,300-acre main campus in Athens, as well as through outreach on five regional campuses in Chillicothe, Ironton, Lancaster, St. Clairsville, and Zanesville. Collectively, the full-time, part-time, and continuing education enrollment for Ohio University is over 28,000.
The successful candidate will have an outstanding record of academic and administrative achievement, the ability to set and implement an ambitious academic agenda to enhance Ohio University’s national visibility, evidence of effectiveness in creating and nurturing diversity, and demonstrated success in developing all types of financial resources.
The review will begin in January 2004 and will continue until the position is filled.
