April 29, 2004 The Ohio University Presidential Search Committee continues its work of reviewing the credentials of outstanding prospects in preparation for bringing a small group of finalists to campus within the next few weeks. Reference checks are complete and follow-up interviews are underway.
According to committee chair and Chairman of the Board of Trustees Robert Walter, this sensitive stage of the process is being approached in a very deliberate fashion.
"We are moving forward with great care and yet with a sense of urgency to remain on track to appoint a new president within the time frame originally set forth, the end of spring quarter," said Walter. "Our committee has dedicated itself to a thorough review of all nominations and applications and has been charged with sorting through a pool of highly qualified prospects to find just the right fit for the University. I believe we have accomplished a great deal and now it's a matter of preparing for a wider constituency to participate in the process."
Walter added that the committee would work to announce which candidates would be brought to campus as soon as possible.
