Leadership change in Government Relations

Dec 9, 2010

Dear Faculty and Staff,

The purpose of my e-mail is to inform you that Teri Geiger, Director of Government Relations, has accepted the position of State Director for U.S. Senator-elect Rob Portman, effective January 3, 2011.

In the five years that Teri has led our government relations efforts, she has been a tireless advocate for Ohio University, our faculty, our staff, and our students. Her invaluable contributions to government relations and Ohio University have positioned our university as a leader within the state and nation. She fostered relationships and partnerships with state and federal government officials on our behalf and secured federal and state funding vital to supporting the scholarship, innovation, and creative activity that make Ohio University a place of excellence.

I hope you will join me in wishing Teri and her family success, health, and happiness as she continues to represent our university amongst our nation’s leaders as a distinguished alumna of Ohio University.

In the coming weeks, I will name an interim appointment for Director of Government Relations. I also will invite members of our faculty and staff to serve on a state-wide search committee to identify candidates to fill this important role.

Cordially,

Roderick J. McDavis
President
