Dear Colleagues,
I hope you are finding time this summer to take some well-deserved vacation to relax and recharge before the 2009-10 academic year. For those of you who are on campus, you may notice an increase in visitors to Athens this week.
Beginning July 23rd, our newest Bobcats and their families will be arriving in Athens for Bobcat Student Orientation. Please be aware that there may be a number of people in need of directions as they navigate our community. I know they are excited to be on campus and we are very pleased to welcome them to Athens.
Additional dates of note as it relates to our newest students include move-in week, which will begin Thursday, September 3rd, followed by college orientations, and then the First-Year Student Convocation.
I invite you to attend the convocation, which will take place at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, September 7th in the Convocation Center. This event marks our first-year students’ official induction into the Bobcat family. Following the convocation, our first-year students will be led by the Marching 110 to the College Green for the Campus Involvement Fair and a special show by “The Most Exciting Band in the Land.”
Again, thank you in advance for your efforts to make our newest students and their families feel welcome!
Cordially,
Roderick J. McDavis
President
