As we approach the Winter Break, I want to share how very proud I am of the work that has been done this quarter. We have accomplished a great deal and I want to share some highlights:
* significant grant awards given to our faculty
* nationally competitive awards received by our students
* the grand opening of the Faculty Commons in Alden Library
* the groundbreaking of the new Academic & Research Center
* the 50th anniversary celebration of Ohio University-Eastern campus
* the opening and dedication of Adams Hall on South Green
* the showcasing of some of Ohio University's best and brightest students through "The Promise" marketing campaign
* Mid-American Conference regular season championships captured by our women's volleyball, field hockey, and women's cross country teams
This list, which contains many things for which we should be very pleased, only begins to skim the surface of all that has been achieved by our faculty, staff, and students this quarter.
I want to thank Executive Vice President and Provost Kathy Krendl for her leadership on several major academic initiatives that will define the future of Ohio University and our state higher education system. I also want to share my appreciation for the Executive Staff, who work to provide the infrastructure and resources needed to support our academic mission, and the Deans, who are fostering environments to inspire creative and scholarly activity and academic excellence.
Most importantly, I believe that the wonderful position we hold as a premier state institution is made possible by the energy, dedication, enthusiasm, and eager spirit of our faculty and staff.
