Ohio University’s strategic plan, Vision OHIO is linked to our 1804 founding mission, which was established by the Ohio General Assembly. That conviction opened the doors to a higher education in the new land of the Northwest Territory and Vision OHIO remains true to that ideal. It also establishes how we will face contemporary challenges in pursuit of that conviction to provide access and excellence in higher education.

“Ohio University will draw both strength and distinction from its historic mission of extending learning opportunities to under-served populations, remaining a center of learning in rural Appalachia dedicated to access and opportunity, expanding its many partnerships that extend all over the world, and making selective investments in research areas that have the greatest potential for improving people’s lives.”
