Orientation for new students is the first step toward joining the Ohio University community. Precollege orientation addresses a variety of issues, questions, and concerns that students will confront during their first year and throughout their career at Ohio University. While on campus, students register for classes and learn about involvement opportunities, academic policies, code of conduct concerns, and available resources.

Starting in the Fall Quarter
Students starting Fall Quarter will attend a one and a half day session, where both students and parents have the opportunity to stay overnight in the residence halls and get to know other incoming freshmen and parents. During the day, students meet with their student advisors, while parents attend a parallel program that addresses academic and non-academic concerns they may have about their student attending college. While parents and/or guardians are not required to come, it is recommended that they take advantage of the information and the events that are presented throughout Orientation.
