Purpose
- To outline the eligibility requirements, coverage and procedures for permanent part-time civil service employees to have group health and life insurance.
Policy
- It is the policy of Ohio University to provide one half of the premium cost for group medical, hospitalization and life insurance to permanent part-time civil service employees who work twenty hours or more per week and who elect such coverage.
Procedure
- Employees need to express their requests for coverage in writing and submit it to the Personnel Department. Such requests are to be made within 30 days of the date of hire (with coverage retroactive to date of hire) or during the enrollment period each fall quarter. Coverage for fall quarter enrollees will begin on January 1 and continue until the end of employment or discontinuation of payments due to a family status change. (Family status changes are limited to birth or adoption of a child, death of a spouse or dependent, divorce, or a change in the employee's employment or employee's spouse's employment.)
Employees are required to pay one half of the current monthly premium with the amount and method of payment as prescribed by the Personnel Department.
Coverages will be the same as afforded to regular full-time employees with respect to health and life insurance.
