Policy:

It is the policy of Ohio University that the Administrative Officers are empowered within departmental budget limitations to either employ the services of placement offices or employment agencies or pay the employment fees of new employees hired through employment agencies. This policy shall pertain only to technicians and specialists and not faculty members or administrative officers.

Prior to authorizing the above services or payments, the hiring authority will obtain a written verification from the Director of University Personnel Services that candidates to fill the position cannot be obtained through local channels and that the use of an employment agency is an appropriate source of a potential employee. Further, the hiring authority must obtain written approval in advance from an appropriate Administrative Officer, as follows:

  1. President
  2. Provost
  3. Vice President for Administration
  4. Vice President for University Relations
  5. Dean of Students
  6. Vice President for Development
  7. Treasurer
