PURPOSE:
- To outline the policy of Ohio University concerning memberships and use eligibility for the Charles J. Ping Recreation Center applicable to undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, staff and their immediate families.
- POLICY:
- Ohio University has established eligibility requirements for the use of the Charles J. Ping Recreation Center as follows:
Full-time students:
Those undergraduate students carrying 11 or more credit hours and graduate students carrying 9 or more credit hours during any academic quarter will be assessed a mandatory fee for the Charles J. Ping Student Recreation Center.
Part-time students:
Those undergraduate or graduate students carrying a minimum of 3 credit hours but less than the credit hours necessary in establishing full-time status may purchase a Charles J. Ping Student Recreation Center membership.
Faculty and Staff:
Probationary or tenured faculty, classified, bargaining unit or contract employees receiving a pay check from the University and retired faculty and staff shall be permitted to purchase a membership. Fees will be offered on a quarterly or annual basis.
Regional Campuses:
Undergraduate and graduate students as well as the faculty and staff of Ohio University Regional Campuses are eligible for a daily membership to the center.
Families:
Students and members with spouses, and dependents under 21 years of age may purchase spouse or family memberships. Children under the age of 17 must be accompanied by parent or responsible adult or under staff supervision. Children under the age of 7 will be restricted to the child care room unless participating in a structured program.
Guests:
Members are limited to two (2) guests per visit and guests must be accompanied by the qualifying member. A daily guest fee will be assessed.
Others:
On occasion and during non-peak time periods, special programs including camps, family nights, festivals, and other activities, the center may be open to the University Community and the general public. The overall impact on facility utilization and operations by community use and these activities will be reviewed on an regular basis to insure no conflict arises in facility availability for student use.
