PURPOSE

To provide the policy and procedure for posting advertising materials or announcements in Baker Center.

POLICY

Advertisements and Announcements by Recognized University Organizations

It is the policy of Baker Center to allow as much space as possible to recognized University organizations for the purpose of publicizing their events and activities. It is equally the policy of Baker Center to prohibit use of any portion of the Center for advertising directed by or toward private concerns and businesses. Permission will not be granted for such advertising for gain and such posted or distributed advertising will be destroyed and the concern or business billed for the period of posting or distribution at a rate of $5.00 per day or portion thereof.

Approvals by Director's Office

All announcements to be distributed in any manner in or about Baker Center must be approved by the Director's Office. All such materials, pamphlets, posters, leaflets, etc. are subject to the following guidelines:

  1. All material must be in good taste.
  2. Materials must be sponsored by a recognized University organization whose name appears on the material itself.
  3. Distribution must be limited to the areas set aside by the Director for such use.
  4. Registered student organization and College of Fine Arts student production posters and signs must not exceed 11" x 17" so as not to conflict with use of posting areas by several groups at once.
  5. All other posters and signs must not exceed 8 1/2" x 14".
  6. Material posted on any bulletin board must be dated from the first day of posting and may remain on the bulletin board for a maximum of fourteen (14) calendar days from the date of posting.

Types of Advertising and Announcements

Handbills and Leaflets

May be distributed by any member of the University community who wishes to place such handbills and leaflets at a table designated for that purpose in the main lobby of the Center without permission or approval.

Handbills and leaflets may not be distributed in any location or area other than the main lobby table without the expressed permission of the Director. All materials placed at the handbill table must be clearly marked with the name of the individual or organization which produced or sponsored the material.

Distribution in violation of the above will result in a charge of $10.00 plus

costs of cleaning up debris. The charge will be levied against any or all individuals and/or organizations associated with the distribution.

Penalties and Charges

Distribution of materials in violation of the above policies will result in removal and destruction of the materials plus charges to the individual and/or organization involved of costs of cleaning up debris.
