Purpose

Plan

Trained Ohio University employees may provide supportive first aid administered at the scene of an emergency, and the Ohio University Police Department may also provide transportation for minor medical emergencies.

Serious medical emergencies will be handled by Southeast Ohio Emergency Medical Services (SEOEMS) or another Athens County designated agency, including transportation to medical facilities.

The Ohio University Police Department does not operate an ambulance that is certified in accordance with Chapters 4765 and 4766 of the Ohio Revised Code. Ohio University does not claim that any Ohio University staff member may perform those emergency medical care services restricted by Chapter 4765 of the Ohio Revised Code.
