A. If a course is taught on load and includes a class at the originating site as well as students at another site:
- The faculty member will be paid a course development fee of $125 per credit hour for the initial development and teaching of a course via electronic media. This fee includes the expectation that the faculty member originate at least one class at the other site. Two additional classes may be originated at the other site for which the faculty will be paid $100 per class. (Based on a minimum of six students in the other site class.)
- Faculty members offering the same course in a subsequent quarter will be paid a course update fee of $75 per credit hour. This fee includes the expectation that at least one class must originate at the other site. Again, two additional classes may be originated for which the faculty member will be paid $100 per class. (Based on a minimum of six students in the other site class.)
- On-load teaching under the above points will not generate additional income to the college; the WSCH will be credited to the department.
B. If a course is offered via electronic media for students exclusively in non-originating sites (i.e. has no students at the originating site) and is not considered a part of a faculty member's normal load, the faculty member will be compensated at 75% of the normal off-campus teaching rate In addition a course development fee of $125 per credit hour will be paid, at least one class should be originated at the student site. Such a course must meet current minimum enrollment levels. If the same class is taught in a subsequent quarter, a course update fee of $75 per credit hour will be paid in addition to 75% of the normal off-campus teaching rate.
In all cases above, faculty will be reimbursed for travel and other expenses permitted by state policy.

C. If it becomes necessary for a faculty member to teach via electronic media in order to maintain a normal load, sections A and B of this policy may be waived.
