The Trisolini House
Our Mission
The Charles J. Ping Institute for the Teaching of the Humanities supports activities designed
to further the teaching of the humanities. The Ping Institute was created by the Ohio University
Board of Trustees in 1992 and is funded by an endowment established by friends of the University,
University trustees, and Ohio University Foundation trustees who together more than matched a
three-to-one challenge grant awarded by the National Endowment of the Humanities.

The Memoir & Personal Essay: June 27 & 28,2013
This two-day institute will explore the
memoir and personal essay forms,
introducing participants to the history of
the genres, distinctions within the genres,
and the wide range of possibilities and
innovation in what is now commonly
called “creative nonfiction.” The institute
will include discussion of a full-length
memoir and some briefer examples;
guest appearances by writers, who will
read from and discuss their work; and
some creative prompts to encourage the
participants to practice the art of literary
nonfiction themselves.Completed preregistration is required in order to attend and must be filled out by May 27th. Click HERE to download the registration form.
