The Charles J. Ping Institute for the Teaching of the Humanities supports activities designed to further the teaching of the humanities. The Ping Institute was created by the Ohio University Board of Trustees in 1992 and is funded by an endowment established by friends of the University, University trustees, and Ohio University Foundation trustees who together more than matched a three-to-one challenge grant awarded by the National Endowment of the Humanities.

Mary Shelley's Frankenstein or The Modern Prometheus: Saturday Novermber 2, 2013
Your workshop leader will be Dr. Joe McLaughlin, Associate Professor of English at Ohio University, a specialist in Nineteenth-Century British Literature. In the morning, we will discuss Mary Shelley’s classic novel and in the afternoon screen the classic 1931 version of Frankenstein featuring Boris Karloff as the Creature. This workshop is free and begins at 9:30am with a break at lunch then concluding a 4pm. Completed preregistration is required in order to attend and must be filled out by Monday, October 25th.
