The Trisolini House

Our Mission

Dr. Ping The Charles J. Ping Institute for the Teaching of the Humanities supports activities designed to further the teaching of the humanities. The Ping Institute was created by the Ohio University Board of Trustees in 1992 and is funded by an endowment established by friends of the University, University trustees, and Ohio University Foundation trustees who together more than matched a three-to-one challenge grant awarded by the National Endowment of the Humanities.

Upcoming Workshops

The Charles J. Ping Institute for the Teaching of the Humanities presents Eurydice by Sarah Ruhl, a one day workshop for secondary teachers.

Ruhl reimagines the classic myth of Orpheus through the eyes of this play's heroine. Dying too young on her wedding day, Eurydice must journey to the underworld, where she reunites with her father and struggles to remember her lost love.

EurydiceEurydice will take place on Saturday, October 22, 2011. Workshop leaders will be Ping Institute Professors William F. Condee and Tom Carpenter, as well as performance director Dennis Delaney. This afternoon workshop, which is free, will begin at 2pm and includes a ticket to the 8pm evening performance.
