According to techopedia.com internet privacy is defined as the privacy and security level of personal data published via the Internet. It is a broad term that refers to a variety of factors, techniques and technologies used to protect sensitive and private data, communications, and preferences.

Social media sites can pose a threat to your privacy online by allowing your personal information to be shared with people other than on your trusted “friends” list. Having people outside your trusted realm be able to view your personal views, locations, etc… can result in a breach of your privacy.

Location services are another possible breach of online privacy. Allowing applications like direction services and social media to locate you and share that location with others could have dire consequences.
