The first guns issued to the 63rd were converted flintlocks while they were in Marietta. Later, they were issued the Lorenz.
The Lorenz was imported from Austria and was widely used by both sides, especially in Tennessee by the Confederates. They were issued to the 63rd while they were there. Many of the men hated them because they were heavy. They came in two different calibers, 54 and 59, with the 54 being the used the most.

Today the unit uses a mixture of Springfields and Enfields. Norm Lowery has an original Austrian that he displays.
