Review Sheets for Exams
Spanish 212
The exams in Spanish 211, 212, and 213 test speaking, reading,
writing,
listening, grammar, culture, and vocabulary, which constitute the
categories
of goals for the course.
Daily homework from the textbook and the Activities Manual will
prepare
you to succeed on each exam, if you complete assignments
responsibly.
Use each Activities Manual assignment as a practice test: first study
the assigned
pages from the textbook, then complete the Manual activities without
referring
to the answer key until you finish. If your Manual answers are
accurate,
you have absorbed the material from the text and your exam answers will
also be accurate.
There will be an speaking exam for each chapter in the
textbook.
The instructions for each "oral exam" are accessible from the homework
pages on the course website.
The final exam is cumulative, and will test all vocabulary,
culture,
and grammar covered during the quarter.
Review Sheet for Capitulo 4:
The first exam in Spanish 212 will test the following:
1) LISTENING COMPREHENSION. You will hear a passage
related to a theme from Chapter 4. Practice listening activities
online in WileyPLUS.
2) VOCABULARY. Exams will specifically test only the
"Ampliar vocabulario" section of the list at the end of the
chapter.
You should learn these words and phrases by studying the Spanish
synonyms or definitions from the "VOCABULARIO: ANTES DE LEER/ESCUCHAR"
activities throughout the chapter as well as THE CONTEXT in which each
word or expression appears in the chapter readings. Do not simply
memorize the English translation; you will be tested on the meaning in
a Spanish context in activities that mirror vocabulary
exercises you have completed for homework. You may be tested on
one or more of the following types of exercises:
1) Multiple choice synonyms.
2) Fill in the blank.
3) Matching words to definitions.
Other sections of each exam will ask you to talk about ideas
from Chapter 4 and thus offer you an opportunity to produce new
vocabulary,
and throughout the exam you will read words and expressions from
Chapter 4
and will need to recognize their meaning.
3) GRAMMAR. These sections will mirror grammar exercises
you have
completed for homework in the Activities Manual. You should study the grammar
explanations in the text and review your homework.
a) relative pronouns
b) imperfect subjunctive

4) WRITING. You will be asked to write at least one short
paragraph
using structures and/or vocabulary studied in Chapter 4. You
should review short writing assignments from the Activities Manual and activities completed in class.

content presented
in Chapter 4. Be prepared to identify people, customs, celebrations,
places, and other cultural phenomena covered in textbook readings,
homework
exercises, listening comprehension exercises from the Activities Manual
CDs, miniconferencias on the textbook CDs, and video clip. You
may
have to answer questions based on the cultural readings, write several
sentences to identify a cultural phenomenon and/or
complete a multiple choice, true/false, or matching
exercise.
6) READING. The exam will test reading comprehension.
Practice reading the "Lecturas" in the textbook. Remember:
