Rich Hoffman Coach Hoffman begins his 5th year as the Warren Cross Country coach. He ran cross country throughout high school and college and his senior year in high school he was 2nd in the state in small schools and 15th overall in WV. At Davis and Elkins College, he was an all-conference performer, qualified for nationals, and was named an Academic All-American. Coach Hoffman has a B.S. from Davis and Elkins and an M.S. degree from Miami University in Exercise Science, and is certified by the American College of Sports Medicine as a Health and Fitness Instructor. Coach Hoffman is currently a Research and Laboratory Assistant in the Neuromuscular Physiology Laboratory in the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Ohio University. He has accumulated over 7 years of experience as a Head Coach of Cross Country and Track & Field at the collegiate level, including positions at Marietta College, Penn State Behrend, Hiram College, and West Liberty State College. He also coached high school track for a year at Cameron High School in WV. During his tenure at Behrend the programs developed from a track and field club to a top 50 ranking in the Division III national dual meet rankings in 3 years. During that time the women’s cross country team went from no members to twelve, and the men's cross country team won a conference championship and finished in 2nd place in twice. The women's cross country team compiled three consecutive 2nd place finishes in the conference while significantly closing the point difference from 35 points 1998 to 5 points in 2000. Overall, the programs produced 23 All-Conference, 1 All-Region, 10 Academic All-American athletes, 5 ECAC Track & Field qualifiers (in the only year we could compete), and 3 Women's Academic All-American teams. Coach Hoffman was twice named Men’s Coach of the Year in the conference. Coach Hoffman is a certified USA Track & Field Level I Coach, a West Virginia Secondary Schools Certified Coach, has had research on distance runners published in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research, as well as numerous other research publications, and has directed several youth running camps. He has taught classes on Exercise Physiology and Sports Performance, Individualized Fitness, Concepts of Fitness, Strength Training, Exercise Physiology, and Running, and has had articles on training published in the West Virginia Track Coaches Association journal. Matt Lupardus Coach Lupardus begins his 2nd year as a volunteer coach with the Warren program. Matt ran track and cross country at Warren High School, and then went on to run at Marietta College where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering and is employed by Artex Oil Company. Matt has continued to train and competes in a variety of road races including the Parkersburg 1/2 Marathon, the Huntington Half-Marathon, and other more local races. Matt Proctor Coach Proctor begins his 3rd year as a volunteer coach with the Warren program. Matt is our logistical manager, making sure we get our tents, water, and other necessary equipment to the meets since we can't take them on the bus. Matt also assists with the junior high practices and brings a wealth of experience to the program. Matt has a Bachelor of Therapeutic Recreation from Ohio University and a Masters of Physical Education and Recreation Management from Ohio University. He was also Ohio University Graduate and Assistant Director of Intramural Sports, and spent 9 years at St. Joseph’s Hospital Behavioral Health Unit counseling adolescents and adults. Matt is an officiat for Softball, Baseball, Volleyball, and Basketball, and also has 12 years experience leading and organizing the Barlow-Vincent Youth Softball and Baseball League, 4 years leading and organizing the Barlow-Vincent Pee Wee Basketball League, and has also coached Softball, Baseball, and Basketball at numerous levels.
