Books I Can't Live Without

I have always loved to read. Books were like windows to other worlds, filled with daring adventure and thrilling dangers. When my dad and I would go to the library, I would devour books. Even today, when I visit the library I almost hum with excitement.

If I had to pick three books that I enjoyed, it would be the following:

'The Catcher in the Rye'

I first read J.D. Salinger's eternal classic during my junior year of high school. It took me awhile to realize how much I loved the book and its troubled narrator, Holden Caulfield, but now it stands as one of my all-time favorites.

'The Return of the King'

I have and always will be a crazy fantasy nerd and J.R.R. Tolkien's 'The Lord of the Rings' will always be some of my favorite books. But if I had to pick one amongst the trilogy, I would pick 'The Return of the King' because it's the climax of the whole adventure and also filled with appendices of Middle-earth's history, which I can always enjoy.

'A Game of Thrones'

I choose 'A Game of Thrones' for similar reasons I chose 'The Return of the King.' Author George R.R. Martin has been hailed the American Tolkien and his work is proof of that claim. As the first book in the 'Song of Ice and Fire' series, 'Game of Thrones' is my choice because it's what captured my attention and love for Martin's work.
