College can be a very stressful time in your life, so I would like to let you know some of the things that have helped me make it through my Freshman and Sophomore years at school. Some of these things I wish someone would have told me before I started college.

Make New Friends

Friends that you have had all through high school are most likely not going to be attending the same college as you. Making new friends can be very beneficial, especially when you are in the same classes and you need someone to cram with for that final at the last minute, which brings me to my next piece of advice....

Do NOT Procrastinate

The information that you will cover in one semester at college would probably be equivalent to what you learned in a whole year in high school. There will be a lot of information that you need to have learned by finals week. Once you realize that you didn't learn something, it's probably too late to try to learn it. Also, projects are much more complex and require more research than what you're used to doing. So, you really need to start on projects as soon as possible.

Don't Be Afraid to Ask for Help

Your professors are there to help you! So please, don't go through college without asking for help if you really need it. It can be really helpful to discuss something with your professor one-on-one. They may be able to explain it in a different way than they did during class that works for you. If you're still confused and need more help, there are tutors that may be able to explain it better than your professor!

Manage Time Wisely

I know that it's very tempting to spend your free time on things like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr, or anything besides homework. It is to your advantage to get your work done as soon as possible, so that you can have actual free time where there is absolutely nothing for you to do.

Have Fun!

If you spend all of your time stressing about school or doing homework all the time, you will drive yourself crazy! So it is important that you take some time for yourself every once in a while to do whatever you want.
