| Minimum Grade Point Average Fourth-Year Students: Minimum 3.65 Third-Year Students: Minimum 3.80 In addition, no more than 10% of graduating students will be admitted. Note, PBK requirements have changed based on the transition from quarters to semesters and changes to A&S graduation requirements.
Required Hours Attempted* Fourth-Year Students: Minimum 90 (previously 135 quarter credits) Third-Year Students: Minimum 80 (previously 120 quarter credits) *Defined as hours earning a letter grade Acceptable Hours 75 percent of course work must be in the College of Arts and Sciences* *Defined as those offered in the College of Arts and Sciences or accepted by the College as meeting the humanities, social science, or natural science requirements of the College; see the Ohio University Catalog. If a student is a dual major/dual degree candidate, this 75 percent requirement may be met by obtaining 96 hours (previously 144 quarter hours) of course work in the College of Arts and Sciences. Online Courses BA degree Complete one semester of intermediate level or test into 2120 in any "second" language. (previously: proficiency in a foreign language equivalent to 2 years of college study, completed as a single language or 1 year in each of two different languages.) NOTE: High school language will no longer count towards this requirement. Humanities and Social Sciences 24 hours (previously 36 quarter hours) of courses meeting the College of Arts and Sciences distribution requirements. Nine (previously 12 quarter hours) of these hours must be in courses at the 300 level or above. Hours in one's major are acceptable. Please reference the Ohio University Catalog for each course to determine if the given course meets the College of Arts & Sciences distribution requirements. 6 hours (previously 9 quarter hours) of courses meeting the College of Arts and Sciences natural science distribution requirement. Residency Requirement Completion of 60 hours (previously 75 quarter hours) and 4 semesters (previously 5 quarters) on the Athens Campus.
Occasionally students outside the two colleges are elected if they meet chapter requirements. These students are not routinely screened and must submit their names to the chapter secretary. You are encouraged to plan your academic program as early as possible to ensure you are eligible for membership consideration. |
