Passing Ownership to a Content Contributor

Back   Advanced Pagemasters Home   CommonSpot Tutorials Home   Next

The following steps will change the ownership of a CommonSpot page, including a template, so that the new owner can find the page through the "My Pages" dialog, and be permitted to modify the page or template. In the current version of CommonSopt, the new owner will not be able to see the template listed in the "My Templates" category of the template gallery at new-page-creation time. The new owner can, however, go to Author or Edit mode on the template, select Page Properties from the Page & Template Management menu, and place the template into the "Shared Templates" category. See steps 17 through 24 of the template creation process. Once that has been done, it should be possible to create a new page based on that template. If not, please contact the Web Team by e-mail to webteam@ohio.edu or telephone (593-1017 or 593-1016).

Step-by-Step

  1. Navigate to the page in question.

  2. Change to "Author" mode.

  3. Click on the Knowledge Maps tool icon and select "Document Information" from the pop-up menu.

  4. Find the ownership field, near the middle, and click on the "Change" button.

  5. Scroll as needed to find the user who should become the owner. Click on the [+] to expand the first letter of the last name.

  6. Click on that user to highlight his or her name.

  7. Click on the "OK" button.

  8. Wait for the display of document information to be updated on your screen, showing the new ownership.

  9. Click on the "Close" button of the document information window.

  10. Select "Read" mode, so that you do not have a lock on the page.
