The President's Advisory Council for Sustainability Planning was launched in July 2009. It is charged with the development of a recommendation for a comprehensive sustainability plan by the fall of 2010 in accordance with Vision OHIO and the American College and University Presidents’ Climate Commitment. This plan will include recommendations for prioritized goals and strategies for each of the following targeted areas: Academics & Curriculum, Low and No Cost Energy Conservation, Dining, Transportation, Procurement, Energy Infrastructure/Utilities, Fundraising & Endowment, Buildings & Grounds. A secondary responsibility of the Council is to ensure the creation of a Climate Action Plan.

The Council will submit its recommendations to the President, the Executive Vice President and Provost and the Senior Vice President, Finance & Administration who will take such further action on the recommendations as they deem appropriate.

Sub-Councils composed of key stakeholders associated with each targeted area will be staffed and launched by the Council. These groups will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing, prioritizing and recommending such strategies which are necessary and appropriate to addressing overall sustainability goals. All Sub-Councils will report progress and recommendations back to the Council.
