 | Federal grant to allow the hire of full-time survivor advocate Survivors of sexual assault at Ohio University will soon have a professional advocate and additional sexual assault education and support services at their disposal thanks to a three-year, $300,000 U.S. Department of Justice grant recently issued to the university.

 | Local artist to host campus reception on Friday Athens-area artist Mamerto Tindongan will host a campus reception for his exhibit "Wood Shaping Me" from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 6, in the Baker University Center Multicultural Center Art Gallery. The free exhibit will run through Nov. 20.

 | New sexual assault guidelines in place Last spring, Ohio University adopted new sexual assault sanctioning guidelines and a newly formed campus coalition is now working to effectively communicate the guidelines to students.
During the summer, Dean of Students Ryan Lombardi formed the Relationship and Sexual Violence Coalition to educate the campus community about the new guidelines and the sanctions they carry.

 | Meningitis strain confirmed by CDC The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has confirmed that the two Ohio University students treated last week for suspected meningitis were infected with a strain of bacteria known as Neisseria meningititis, group B. Group B is the one known infective serotype of five that is not covered by the vaccine. Both first-year students were treated last week for suspected meningitis at a Columbus medical facility and are making a strong recovery, according to Dean of Students Ryan Lombardi.
