Energy Conservation - Spring Break Hours 2004

ATHENS, Ohio (March 9, 2004) -- In an attempt to help conservation of energy efforts, the University will be following modified work schedules for the Spring Break period, March 22 to March 26. This schedule will be the same as the Summer Hours defined in the Summer Hours Policy - see Policy & Procedure Manual #40.048. The departments that are typically granted exemption during Summer Hours will be exempted for Spring Break. I would encourage you to be fair and considerate when implementing the change in hours in your various departments. Here are some facts and suggestions:

  • Spring Break hours will follow the Summer Hours format, as defined in Policy #40.048, are from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a one half hour lunch, typically noon to 12:30 p.m.

  • Spring Break hours will begin on Monday, March 22, and end at the end of business day March 26 (the Friday prior to the beginning of spring quarter.)

  • Please be flexible and do everything possible to accommodate an individual who may find these hours difficult to follow, e.g., childcare.

  • Please keep in mind that the Spring Break hours are the official university hours; individuals and groups in your units can be accommodated. The important point to remember is that offices should have coverage from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, but that individuals can modify their hours with their supervisor’s approval.

If you have any questions about this year's implementation of Spring Break Hours, please do not hesitate to contact Human Resources at 593-1636.
