Publications

STEVEN GRIMES, physics and astronomy, F.S. Dietrich, J.D. Anderson and R.W. Bauer co-wrote "Importance of Isovector Effects in Reproducing Neutron Total Cross Section Differences in the W Isotopes" in Physical Review C, Vol. 67, Fall 2003.

Joseph ShieldsBRIAN McNAMARA, physics and astronomy, Michael Wise, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Steve Murray, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, co-wrote "The Insignificance of Global Reheating in the A1068" in The Astrophysical Journal, Vol. 601, in January 2004.

JOSEPH SHIELDS, physics and astronomy, wrote "The Ionized Gas and Nuclear Environment in NGC 3783. IV. Variability and Modeling of the 900 Kilosecond Chandra Spectrum" in The Astrophysical Journal, Vol. 599, in December 2003; SHIELDS wrote "A Hubble Space Telescope Census of Nuclear Star Clusters in Late-Type Spiral Galaxies. II. Cluster Sizes and Structural Parameter Correlations" in January 2004.

RAYMOND ATTA-FYNN, PARTHA BISWAS, DAVID DRABOLD and PABLO ORDEJON, physics and astronomy, co-wrote "Systematic Study of Electron Localization in an Amorphous Semiconductor" in Physical Review, Vol. 69, in February 2004.

Presentations

Charles SavageANCA CONSTANTIN and JOSEPH SHIELDS, physics and astronomy, presented "The Role of Dust in Modifying Quasar SEDs" to the American Astronomical Society meeting in Atlanta, Ga., in January 2004; SHIELDS presented "The Survey of Nearby Nuclei with STIS" to the American Astronomical Society meeting in Atlanta, Ga., in January 2004.

CHARLES SAVAGE, Zanesville Campus – music, had the composition "Mad Rush to the End," a duet for clarinet and tenor sax, performed for the Society of Composers, Inc., in Jonesboro, Ark., in January 2004. His work was selected for performance out of 180 compositions.

Recognitions

Janice TinkhamJANICE TINKHAM, Ohio University Without Boundaries, was selected as Ohio University Classified Employee of the Month for the month of January 2004. Tinkham is a records management assistant in the dean's office with Ohio University Without Boundaries. She has been an employee of Ohio University for four years and has also received the "Employee Recognition Award" from Lifelong Learning.

CHARLES SAVAGE, Zanesville Campus – music, received the Medal of Merit in Arts Alumni Award from the alumni association at Ohio Valley College, Parkersburg, W. Va., in February 2004. This award is given to alumni for significant accomplishments within alumni chosen fields in the arts and their contributions in community services.

STACI MORRIS, University Moving Services, was honored at the Classified Senate's February 19th meeting as Ohio University's Classified Employee of the Month for February 2004. Morris is an administrative assistant in University Moving Services and has been with Ohio University for six years.
