Two win national security scholarships
Ohio University students Jason Akbar and Kayleigh Forhan have been named David L. Boren National Security Education Program (NSEP) Scholars. The pair was among 150 awardees selected from 697 applicants.
 
Fingerhut: OHIO founders created first USO
By launching the state's first public higher education institution, Ohio University's founders in effect created the first University System of Ohio, observed Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor Eric Fingerhut, who delivered the keynote address Wednesday at the university's 25th State Government Alumni Luncheon at the Ohio Statehouse.
 
Dahn to deliver International Week keynote

International Week 2008, with the theme "Your World, Your Story," will honor the international customs and culture that enhance life in Athens. Two land government-sponsored awards
Two Ohio University students have landed highly competitive awards from U.S. government-sponsored programs that provide scholarships and fellowships for individuals pursuing degrees in sought-after fields.
 
Opening eyes to Islam
Ohio University's African Studies and Southeast Asian Studies National Resource Centers have been awarded a joint two-year Social Science Research Council grant to draw attention to reform and progress in the contemporary Muslim world, particularly in Africa and Southeast Asia.

Researcher gets nearly $1 million grant
The state of Ohio's Third Frontier program for research and economic development has awarded an Ohio University professor $972,992 for alternative energy work on hydrogen production, ammonia fuel cells and wastewater remediation.
