Royal stallions come to regionals
Herrmann's Royal Lipizzan Stallions of Austria will perform at Southern campus' Ohio Horse Park on June 19 and 20. The famous equestrian troupe also will appear at the Chillicothe campus' Black Equestrian Farm on June 27 and 28.

New dean of HTC selected
Jeremy Webster has been named the new dean of the Honors Tutorial College, Executive Vice President and Provost Kathy Krendl announced Monday. He will succeed interim Dean Harold Molineu, who will return to the Department of Political Science where he is a professor. Webster's new position will begin July 1.

A year in the making, a student-produced, feature-length film that examines the lives of rural Ohioans who live in a run-down trailer park will premiere June 7 at 8 p.m. in Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium.

U.S. Rep. Charlie Wilson recently stopped in Athens to promote service opportunities and discuss a new GI bill. A major benefit: members of the military who have served on active duty since Sept. 11, 2001, can receive up to four academic years of educational benefits.

Students and faculty of the School of Media Arts and Studies recently paired up with the College of Fine Arts to record the improvisation of Ossatura -- an ensemble based in Italy -- as part of the CircumAtlantic Improvisations performances.

Alden Library: 40 years and counting
Alden Library celebrated 40 years of service on Friday with a rededication ceremony for the public as well as historic displays and library tours. Featured speaker Rebecca Watts, chief of staff and special assistant to President Roderick J. McDavis, told guests that the building is even more important today than when it opened its doors in May 1969.

Wood chosen for Faculty Excellence Award
A small group of students and faculty members sprang into his Lindley Hall office on Monday afternoon to present assistant professor Lawrence "Woody" Wood with the Class of 1950 Faculty Excellence Award.
