Ohio University to host mathematics meeting

Ohio University will host the 2004 Spring Central Section Meeting of the American Mathematical Society March 26-27. Approximately 250 mathematicians from 37 states and 17 countries will gather at the University to attend the meeting. The meeting is part of the Ohio University bicentennial.

 

Ohio University Department of Mathematics participation in the meeting:

  • Five talks by faculty in the University’s Department of Mathematics. Those speakers are: Sergiu Aizicovici, Martin J. Mohlenkamp, Nicolae H. Pavel, Maria L. Rizzo and Xiaoping Annie Shen.
  • Five mathematics faculty members are co-authors of talks. Co-authors are: Sergiu Aizicovici, Jeff Connor, Dave N. Keck, Sergio R. López-Permouth and Xiaoping Annie Shen.
  • Thirteen mathematics department faculty members are organizing sessions on nine areas of research. Session organizers from the mathematics department are: Sergiu Aizicovici, Dinh Van Huynh, S. K. Jain, Pramod Kanwar, Sergio R. López-Permouth, Martin J. Mohlenkamp, Viet Dung Nguyen, Nicolae H. Pavel, Maria L. Rizzo, Xiaoping Annie Shen, Vladimir Vinogradov, Thomas R. Wolf and Todd Young. Franco Guerriero of the Lancaster campus is also a session organizer.
  • Haewon Lee, Elena Constantin and M. Voisei, Ph.D. students in the Department of Mathematics, are presenting talks at the meeting.

Participation by Ohio University personnel from outside the Department of Mathematics:

  • Electrical Engineering: Haibo He is presenting a talk co-authored with Janusz A. Starzyk.
